In 2016, Alakh Pandey started a YouTube channel, "PhysicsWallah," where he taught physics and chemistry for NEET and JEE aspirants. His unique teaching style, in-depth explanations, and humor quickly gained popularity. Unlike other platforms that focused on expensive courses, he provided quality education for free.

As the demand grew, he launched the PhysicsWallah app and website in 2020, offering affordable courses for students preparing for competitive exams. This move disrupted the edtech market, making PW a favorite among students.

PW's Success and Growth

PhysicsWallah became India’s 101st unicorn startup in 2022, after raising $100 million at a $1.1 billion valuation. Unlike competitors like BYJU’S and Unacademy, PW focused on low-cost, high-quality education, making it accessible to students from all backgrounds.
